Heartbreak Warfare

It was late at night and I couldn't sleep. I had him on my mind. I guess the bad weather didn't help either. I honestly couldn't help but think about what he had done to me. He didn't even seem to understand the pain he put me through.

I needed my friends so the next day me and my housemate Myra spent the day together. As we sat by the pool and watched the clouds pass, she turned to me and said "It's heartbreak warfare, you know?"

I gave her a puzzled look. I had no idea what she ment. "It's what he is doing" she continued "he wants you to miss him and want him so that he has controll". No words left my mouth, I actually couldn't believe what I was hearing. "It's stupid I know, because no one really ever wins" she said as she looked at me.

Then I felt something, a buzz. I looked down at the side, it was my phone. It was him I knew it. My eyes were stuck to my phone, but my hands were too afraid to reach for it. I couldn't move.

"Are you going to get that?" Myra said as she tapped me on the shoulder. I just looked across and slowly reached for my phone.

It was a text. It read 'Meet me at the beach at 1:00pm'. I didn't know what I was going to do. He was playing me like a fiddle and getting away with it.
I went to the beach hoping for the big reunion and to get a huge hug and apology. To my suprise Wes walked over slowly and put a box down. "Push it in and twist the knife again, why don't you" I spoke, for the first time in days I spoke. I felt powerful, strong and in controll. I wasn't going to let him win this, if it's warfare there will be a winner and that winner will be me.
"What!?" he said baffled."You tried to make this more painful by giving me my stuff back on the beach." I started "You could have come to my house".
He just looked at the ground and left. I had won, but why did I feel so bad?
Well that could be explained when I opened the box.
